An Analysis of Deformed State During the Wave Passage Through the Elastic Solid – Ideal Fluid Interface

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

The problem of elastic wave passage through the interface between a solid and an ideal fluid is considered. In the framework of this problem the deformed state at the interface between an elastic solid and an ideal fluid is studied under the adhesion condition. The analytical expressions obtained for the Fresnel coefficients and for the amplitudes of strain components at the interface make it possible to calculate their dependence on the wave incidence angle. The influence of the properties of the contacting bodies and the incident wave polarization on the deformed state at the interface is analyzed. The features of the deformed state at the solid-fluid interface and the changes of deformation of an elastic solid in the presence of a fluid compared to that on the free surface are identified.
