The mechanical properties of a composite based on the Primer-204 epoxy resin modified by a silica powder were investigated. The silica content in the epoxy matrix ranged from 0 to 25 vol.%. The influence of air bubbles on the elastic modulus of the epoxy oligomer was studied. A series of experimental studies on the magnitude of elastic modulus in relation to the size of filler particles and their dispersion method were carried out. It is shown that the introduction of 17 vol.% of 18-nm silica nanoparticles into the matrix increases the elastic modulus by 35%.
