Design principles of a system for automatic correction of the volumetric geometric accuracy of multi-axis systems (control measurement machines or programmed numerically controlled machine tools) based on laser interferometry are set forth. Control of geometric accuracy and the process of increasing this accuracy by means of correction are demonstrated using as an example three-axis machining centers.
