Abstract
In this work, 153Sm was prepared by neutron irradiation of natural Sm2O3 in Tehran Research Reactor. An enriched 152Sm sample was also prepared for comparative evaluation. For the natural Sm target, 153Sm with specific activity of 200–300 mCi/mg was obtained depending on irradiation channel and available neutron flux. For 153Sm prepared from the natural samarium targets, a maximum of ~0.006 μCi 154Eu, 0.07 μCi 155Eu as well as 0.13 μCi 156Eu was detected per 1 mCi of 153Sm. The sample containing the enriched 152Sm showed the same level of 154Eu but 155Eu decreased compared with the natural target.
