Abstract

This paper reports the growth of 0% zinc acetate dihydrate doped (pure) and 0.5% zinc acetate dihydrate-doped ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ZAD-ADP) by slow evaporation method and the effect of the dopants in various properties. Cell parameters and (hkl) planes of the pure and zinc acetate dihydrate-doped ADP single crystals examined by X-ray diffraction studies. In the photoluminescence studies, the blue emission was observed at 402 nm. The crystal proves to be thermally stable up to 200 °C. Both the pure and doped crystals have almost 90% of transmittance. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the respective crystals were measured. The hardness is increased for ZAD-ADP crystal compared to the pure ADP. From the photoconductivity measurement, it is known that both the crystals exhibit negative photoconducting nature. The optical homogeneity of the crystals was analysed by birefringence interferometry technique. The Kurtz–Perry powder and Z-scan techniques were used to examine the second harmonic generation and third-order nonlinear optical characteristics of the grown crystals, respectively.
