New Flavonol Glycosides from the Seeds of Desmodium styracifolium

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

In this study, different extracts from the seeds of Desmodium styracifolium were screened for their potential antioxidant activities by reducing power and hydroxyl and superoxide radical assays. From the above tests, n-BuOH extract of D. styracifolium seeds exhibited good reductive potential and obvious scavenging effect on hydroxyl (OH), and superoxide (O2) radicals. Therefore, bioassay-guided fractionation and a chemical investigation of n-BuOH extract were carried out, and three new flavonol glycosides (1, 2, 4) together with a known compound (3) were isolated. The chemical structures were further determined by a combination of 1D, 2D NMR, and HR-MS.
