Diterpenoid Alkaloids as Antidotes to Aconitine-Type Neurotoxin Poisoning. Structure–Activity Relationship

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

The in vivo antidote activity of 72 diterpenoid alkaloids isolated from plants of the genera Aconitum, Delphinium, and Consolida and their derivatives was tested against poisoning of mice by a lethal dose of aconitine. The structure–activity relationship was analyzed. The use of diterpenoid alkaloids as versatile antidotes against poisoning of animals and humans by aconitine-, veratridine-, and batrachotoxin-type neurotoxins was justified.
