Abstract
A case of intestinal lymphangiectasia in a 33-month-old girl is presented. Light microscopy showed only focal lesions consistent with this entity. The ultrastructural findings of normal absorptive cells with expansion of the basolateral intercellular spaces containing fluid and occasional lymphocytes in histologically normal adjacent areas of jejunal biopsies suggest that the use of electron microscopy may help to diagnose intestinal lymphangiectasia when the lesions are focal or less evident under light microscopy.
