Abstract

Intraneural lipomas are typically found within the epineurium of a nerve. Several cases of intraneural lipomas of the upper extremity have been reported, mostly related to the median nerve, but only a few cases involving the sciatic and tibial nerves have been described, due to the low incidence of these lesions in the lower extremity. Here we describe, possibly, the first case of a large intraneural lipoma with involvement of both common and superficial peroneal nerves in a 59-year-old woman. We would like to discuss management and long-term outcomes of this unique tumor, along with our observations during a follow-up period of 3 years.

Level of evidence: Level II, diagnostic; therapeutic study.
