Abstract

In this paper, issues concerning discharge concentration problem in the electrostatic field-induced electrolyte jet (E-Jet) electrical discharge machining (EDM) are discussed, and an improved electrostatic induced workpiece and assisted tool electrode-based electrostatic field-induced E-Jet EDM is proposed. In the comparative trials, the discharge phenomena and the machined caves and linear grooves with these two kinds of E-Jet EDM are observed and compared. The experimental results demonstrate that the new proposed method can improve the concentration of the plasma and enhance the continuous machining ability of E-Jet EDM.
