Abstract

“Xi Jinping Thought” on “socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era” was adopted by the 19th CPC National Congress and written into the Party constitution, while the 13th National People’s Congress also passed an amendment to Constitution of the Chinese state. These amendments to the Party and state constitutions, as well as reform of Party and state agencies are intended to enhance the Party’s governance capabilities in China. This chapter explicates in detail the nature of these constitutional and institutional reforms—with a focus on the anti-corruption campaign.
