Abstract

Bacteriophages are viruses that specifically lyse bacteria and can be used to identify and classify bacteria. Furthermore, the phage is considered an alternative method of controlling bacterial infections and contaminations. Before phages can be used for clinical treatment and practical application, their morphology and biological features must be fully characterized. This section provides a method for the isolation of a single plaque from Yersinia pestis. The method for phage DNA isolation is the basis for discussion on phage genetics.
