Abstract
The (1−x)Ta2O5⋅xAl2O3 solid solution series was re-investigated using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and neutron powder diffraction data. Structures were refined using the Rietveld method and an incommensurately modulated composite structure approach in superspace group Xmmm(0β0)s00 with a composition dependent modulation wave vector. Variable temperature synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data were collected between 27 and 990 ∘C. The magnitude of the modulation wave vector was found to be constant over most of the temperature range.
