Transfergeschichten sind komplex. Das gilt besonders für die deutsch-französischen, wenn auch nicht ausschließlich. Keine andere Konstellation weist eine ähnliche historische Dichte auf, vor allem vor und nach 1800: Rousseau in Deutschland, Kant in Frankreich, deutscher Idealismus in Paris, Madame de Staël und Benjamin Constant in der Schweiz, Heine und Zola in Europa – an exemplarischen Konstellationen besteht kein Mangel.
