Zusammenfassung
Im Vergleich zum Erwachsenenalter zeigen Kinder (0–13 Jahre), Jugendliche (14–17 Jahre) und junge Volljährige (18–21 Jahre) besondere Merkmale, die bei der Abgrenzung zum Gesunden und bei der Behandlung psychischer und körperlicher Erkrankungen Berücksichtigung finden sollten. Dazu zählen die entwicklungs- und altersabhängige Selbstkontrolle, Kommunikationsfähigkeit, Introspektionsfähigkeit wie die Krankheitswahrnehmung und -interpretation. Die Entwicklungsphasen im Kindes- und Jugendalter sind geprägt von schnellen Veränderungen der physischen Konstitution, kognitiven Prozessen, sozialen Werten und dem sozialen Status wie Veränderungen im Verhalten und der emotionalen Befindlichkeit.
