Zusammenfassung
In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wurde die erste Nierentransplantation im Rahmen einer Lebendnierenspende 1963 von Brosig und Nagel in Berlin vorgenommen und in der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik von Rockstroh 1966 in Halle/Saale. Durch die Einführung der modernen medikamentösen Immunsuppression und deren stetige Verbesserung trat in der Folgezeit die postmortale Organspende zur Nierentransplantation in den Vordergrund. In den letzten Jahren gewann die Lebendspende durch den anhaltenden Organmangel an postmortalen Organspenden und den daraus resultierenden langen Wartezeiten wieder an Bedeutung. Dieses Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über die Lebendnierenspende bei erwachsenen Empfängern.
