Zusammenfassung

Eine Entzündung in einem Gelenk bezeichnet man als Arthritis. Ein Großteil der rheumatologischen Patienten leiden an einer Arthritis und stellen somit die am häufigste Entität an rheumatologischen Diagnosen dar. Die häufigste chronische Arthritis-Form ist die Rheumatoide Arthritis. Aber nicht nur Gelenke sondern auch gelenknahe Strukturen oder extraartikuläre Manifestationen sind bei vielen Arthritisformen zu finden.

Neben den chronisch entzündlichen Arthritiden, die häufig schleichend beginnen, können auch akute Arthritiden wie die reaktive Arthritis oder die Gicht-Arthritis auftreten.

Dank der stetigen Forschung und somit eines besseren Verständnisses der Pathogenese haben sich multiple Therapieoptionen etabliert und heute sind meist alle Arthritiden gut behandelbar.
