Zusammenfassung
Harnwegsinfektionen zählen zu den häufigsten bakteriellen Infektionen im Säuglings- und Kleinkindesalter. Sie gehen mit dem potenziellen Risiko für persistierende Nierenparenchymschäden einher. Nicht zuletzt deswegen ist die rasche Diagnose einer Pyelonephritis durch die Untersuchung einer geeigneten Urinprobe und die zügige Einleitung einer kalkulierten antibakteriellen Therapie notwendig. Durch weiterführende bildgebende und funktionelle Diagnostik lassen sich Rezidiv- und Schädigungsrisiko bei konnatalen Harntraktanomalien und Blasenfunktionsstörungen einschätzen und einer gezielten Therapie oder Prophylaxe zuführen.
