Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung des Gastrointestinaltrakts während der Embryonal- und Fetalperiode wird dargestellt, und es wird auf mögliche Entwicklungsstörungen eingegangen (Malrotation, Duplikaturen, Atresien, Meckel-Divertikel). Die Bedeutung des gastrointestinalen Mikrobioms, das bereits in utero vorhanden ist, wird beschrieben, und es wird ausführlich auf intrauterine Wachstumsrestriktion (IUGR) und verschiedene damit verbundene Krankheitsrisiken eingegangen; IUGR stellt einen signifikanten Risikofaktor für gastrointestinale Transportfunktionsstörungen und nekrotisierende Enterokolitis dar. Schließlich werden praktische Hinweise zur Ernährung des Früh- und Reifgeborenen gegeben.
