Zusammenfassung
Seit 1976 von Fernström und Johansson erstmals eine endoskopische, rein perkutane Technik zur Entfernung von Nierensteinen publiziert wurde, hat die perkutane Nephrolitholapaxie (PNL) schnell Einzug in den klinischen Alltag gehalten. Parallel zur perkutanen Steintherapie von Nierensteinen revolutionierte seit dem ersten klinischen Einsatz am Klinikum Großhadern 1980 die Extrakorporale Stoßwellen Therapie (ESWL) die Behandlung von Nierensteinen. Die früher häufig notwendige offene chirurgische Steintherapie mit zwar hohen Steinfreiheitsraten, aber auch hoher Invasivität geriet zunehmend in den Hintergrund. Die ESWL galt lange Jahre als Goldstandard in der Therapie von Nierensteinen.
