Abstract

The paper presents the designed algorithm capable of creating the 3D road surface model based on measured data. This model can be used to calculate severity of degradation of road infrastructure manifested by cracks, pot-holes, rutting and shoving, deterioration, local deformations or beaten longitudinal tracks. The algorithm may also be used to calculate amount of material needed for repair of road surface deformations. It can provide data on GPS position of individual distresses together with visual information. In future information about positions of road surface deformations could be integrated into road databases and via I2C communication sent to drivers in the form of early warnings.
