Zusammenfassung
Whites Analyse von Marktstrukturen schließt an seine frühen Arbeiten innerhalb der SNA und den sogenannten » Harvard Breakthrough « an, der sich auf die Ableitung von Rollen aus Netzwerkstrukturen bezog. Dabei werden auch Produktionsmärkte als solche Strukturen aufgefasst. Außerdem reiht er sich damit in die aufkommende neue Wirtschaftssoziologie ein, die sich aufmacht, die neoklassische ökonomische Theorie einer durchgreifenden Kritik zu unterziehen, und dabei vor allem davon ausgeht, dass man sowohl ökonomische Akteure, als auch ökonomische Strukturen und Institutionen wie Märkte als eingebettet in andere Strukturen konzipieren muss, von denen die jeweilige Ausprägung der Strukturen abhängt.
