Zusammenfassung
Nations and Nationalism gilt als zentrales Werk des Soziologen, Philosophen und Sozialanthropologen Ernest Gellner (1925–1995). In Paris geboren, wuchs Gellner bis zu seiner Flucht vor den Nationalsozialisten in Prag und anschließend in London auf. Er lehrte nach seinem Militärdienst und Studium von 1949 bis 1984 an der London School of Economics und zwischen 1984 und 1993 in Cambridge.
