Zusammenfassung

Vierzig Jahre Arbeit am Deutsch-Französischen Institut – das ist ein ganzes Berufsleben, in der Geschichte indessen eine eher kurze Zeitspanne. Grund genug für den Versuch, die vergangenen Jahrzehnte historisch einzuordnen und der Frage nach Konstanten und Veränderungen in den deutsch-französischen Beziehungen und in Europa nachzugehen. Dabei wäre es vermessen, alle Bereiche dieser komplexen Entwicklungen ausmessen zu wollen. Vielmehr werde ich mich auf die Bereiche der Wirtschaftsund der Währungspolitik konzentrieren, die meine aktive Zeit am Institut weitgehend geprägt haben.

Leicht überarbeitete Fassung des Vortrags, den der Verfasser am 27.11.2014 in der Musikhalle Ludwigsburg anlässlich seiner Verabschiedung gehalten hat.
