Zusammenfassung
Die Prostatitis ist eine Entzündung der Prostata, die mit oder ohne Anzeichen einer Infektion auftreten kann. Die Unterteilung in unterschiedliche Gruppen erfolgt je nach Erregernachweis und Entzündungsparametern. Prostatitis kann Menschen aller Altersgruppen betreffen und ist die häufigste urologische Erkrankung des Mannes unter 50 Jahren. In einigen Fällen folgt der akuten Prostatitis eine chronische Prostatitis. Die chronische Prostatitis kann auch mit Infektionen der Harnwege zusammenhängen. Eine Prostatitis gilt als chronisch, wenn sie länger als 3 Monate dauert. Je nach Form der Prostatitis gehören perineale und suprapubische Schmerzen, Symptome des unteren Harntraktes, Fieber und Kälteempfindlichkeit zu den häufigsten Symptomen. Die Therapie richtet sich ebenfalls nach der Form der Prostatitis. Bei der bakteriellen Prostatitis steht die antibiotische Therapie im Vordergrund, während die chronische Form meist eine multimodale Therapie benötigt.
