Abstract

Split earlobe repair is one of the commonest requests in cosmetic facial surgery. A split earlobe results from tearing of the soft tissues of the lobe by metal earrings. The earlobe split is prone to recurrence following conventional surgical repair as these do not envisage strengthening the tissues of the earlobe. These techniques also require a two-stage surgery for achieving the final result of a new earhole which may not be in a central location on the earlobe due to the scar. A new single stage technique for repairing the split earlobe is described which strengthens the earlobe tissues using locally available conchal cartilage to prevent recurrence and also to restore volume and shape of the lobe. The conchal cartilage graft sandwich procedure allows immediate reperforation of the repaired earlobe at the time of repair in a central aesthetic location.
