Abstract
Tubular disorders are less common compared to glomerular diseases. They may be secondary (e.g., in patients with focal segmental glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis) or primary. They may be congenital or acquired. Common symptoms of tubular disorders are growth failure, polyuria, and resistant rickets. This chapter deals with an approach to various tubular disorders. This chapter describes in some details tubular diseases such as diabetes insipidus, renal tubular acidosis, Bartter and Gitelman syndromes, nephropathic cystinosis, hypophosphatemic rickets, primary hyperoxaluria, pseudohypoaldosteronism, cystinuria, and Lowe syndrome. It also describes some features of acute and chronic tubulointerstitial nephritis.
