Abstract

The Earth has the unique property of supporting life. Organisms dwell in their comfortable environment; some survive in hot environments while some in cold or moderate environments; some live as groups while some as individuals; some organisms are diurnal while some are natural. This is the diversity among the life forms on the Earth. A threat to environment is generally considered as a threat to the organisms in that environment. Mostly environmental degradation occurs due to anthropogenic effects. Current UN population projections predict that the global population will rise to about 8.5 billion by 2030 and 9.7 billion by 2050. It is evidently known that this population is a huge burden on the environment. Due to the increasing population, the environmental effects such as pollution, resource depletion, water scarcity, deforestation, and biodiversity loss are unavoidable. Other issues like lack of cultivable lands, clean water, food, and fuel are actually scaring and questioning the possibility of the life of organisms on the Earth.
