Abstract

The double-pass hot compressions test of 5Ni steel containing different niobium was simulated by using the Gleeble-3500 thermal simulator and the effects of niobium on the static recrystallization behavior of the testing steels were analyzed. The critical rolling technological parameters during industrial production were proposed. The results showed that the effects of deformation temperature and interpass time on the softening in multi-stage hot deformation were significant. The volume fraction of static recrystallization(X SRX ) increased with the increase of the deformation temperature and the interval time. The niobium addition could impede the static recrystallization of the experimental steel. The solute drag effect of niobium in solid solution was the main reason that retarded recrystallization at high temperature, and the pinning effect of fine Nb(C,N) precipitates was the main reasonat low temperature. The finish rolling should start at a temperature lower than 925°C to avoid mixed crystal for Nb-microalloyed 5Ni steel.
