Abstract
Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL) are a heterogeneous group of rare diseases with unique pathogenesis, prognosis and therefore treatment. Most of PCL are T-cell lymphomas (75 %) and mainly represented by Mycosis Fungoides, followed by the cutaneous CD30+ lymphoproliferative disorders. B-cell PCL belong to three main histological types, the primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphomas, the primary cutaneous follicle center lymphomas and the primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, leg type. A thorough investigation is important to exclude systemic lymphoma that infiltrates the skin secondarily and to define prognosis and treatment. The main imaging staging procedure is the CT scan for the detection of lymph node enlargement and extracutaneous disease. The role of 18-FDG-PET/CT in PCL is not clear. Through small studies performed mainly in the cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, it seems to offer significant information concerning the areas of disease transformation, to guide best representative lesion for histological analysis and in the documentation of residual disease or recurrence.
