Abstract
This article shows the progress of the Medics, a tool that seeks to facilitate the recording, analysis, and interpretation of medical results, vital signs, and mental health, using a device and an application. This tool arises from the need of people with a medical situation to have a centralized log for health care that is simple to use. In that sense, the target user is a person who has the basic knowledge of using a smartphone or tablet and with the willingness to use technology as an ally in medical treatments. The first approach was given by interviewing three patients to detect the most pressing needs: the care of their health through periodic reviews and records of vital signs, medical appointments, and moods. Subsequently, a person scenario was generated by following the User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology. The next step was the elaboration of a storyboard that showed the frustrations of the user and their ideal solutions. The development of a pretotype was essential in the process of finding a possible solution; the survey method was also used, which showed relevant information on the aspects to be improved in the user experience. Finally, a prototype was developed which approaches the final tool that supports patients in the process of the registration and monitoring of a medical situation empowering the patient with the correct storage and visualization of their medical data.
