Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) happened first to medical research some decades ago; however, the progress of its application to cancer has been noticeable during the recent two decades, especially since 2017. Here, we briefly review the recently published statistical results provided by pooled analyses and meta-analyses addressing how AI has contributed to the management, from screening, detection, and diagnosis to prognosis and treatment, of eight types of cancer, including breast, lung, prostate, colorectal, gastric, esophageal, brain, and liver cancer. Throughout the chapter, it is possible to identify several factors related to the input data and AI models and techniques that affect the effectiveness of AI models in cancer management.
