Abstract

In addition to being the largest series on radiosurgery for vestibular schwannomas and even more so for CyberKnife-based radiosurgery, this study provides baseline and long-term follow-up quality of life data. Given excellent local control, low rate of complications, and an increase in long-term quality of life, radiosurgery should be considered a primary treatment option, especially for small- and middle-sized vestibular schwannomas. While complications seem to be more common when irradiating larger tumors, further research is needed to compare complications and quality of life following radiosurgery or neurosurgery for this subgroup.
