Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has brought many surprises and challenges to design. Its powerful computing intelligence, perceptual intelligence and cognitive intelligence can change or even replace many traditional designers’ operations, especially those kinds of data-based and standardized work. AI already changed design method from design operations to computing logic, design object from objects to a complex adaptive system, and the goal of design also extended from solving problems to defining and solving problems. Based on the analysis of two cases we carried out, our understanding of artificial intelligence involved in the design process is summarized. Against the backdrop of artificial intelligence, the change of design tasks and methods, and how to give full play to the advantages of artificial intelligence to carry out the in-depth human-machine intelligent collaborative design in the future application are discussed.
