Handbook of Healthcare in the Arab World

Abstract

Over the last 30 years, the Middle East and North Africa has suffered a dramatic change from a traditional to an industrialized diet caused by rapid urbanization and modernization and significant lifestyle’s modifications. This has led to an unparalleled increase in the prevalence of chronic diseases especially from complications of atherosclerosis.

This review attempts to identify the characteristics of patients with coronary artery diseases, their risk factors, their hospital management, and in-hospital outcomes, in the region.
