Abstract
Applying known surgical principles and exercising sound judgment are critical in the management of any patient that we encounter in our surgical practice. An intraoperative consult may challenge our traditional approach to each of these aspects of patient care. These are requests that you may receive in your career from the time that you are the new specialist to the prime of your career. Each situation will be unique, but having a plan including proper preparation and execution will make you an invaluable asset to the surgical community in which you practice.
