Definition

Hydrodynamic design of a submersible is the prediction of hydrodynamic performance and shape optimization through theoretical analyses, numerical calculations, or/and physical experiments. The hydrodynamic calculation runs through all design stages of a submersible, but it is of significant importance during the concept design. Hydrodynamic coefficients and propulsion efficiency are the most important factors affecting the hydrodynamic performance which is one of key technical indicators of submersibles.
