Named in honor of the brothers Edward Charles Pickering (1846–1919), director of Harvard Observatory, and William Henry Pickering (1858–1930), director of Arequipa {see planet (737)} Observatory and discoverer (1898) of the ninth satellite of Saturn. (H 78)
