Discovered 1907 Sept. 11 by A. Kopff at Heidelberg.
Named for the fountain in the footing of the Parnassus mountain, near Delphi, consecrated to Apollo {see planet (1862)} and the Muses. In Greek mythology Kastalia is the symbol for poetry. (H 67)
Another spelling of Kastalia is used with planet (4769) Castalia.
