1984 WX. Discovered 1984 Nov. 20 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.
Named in honor of Donald R. Davis, senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. Davis has made fundamental theoretical and experimental contributions to research on the collisional evolution of minor planets. With colleagues, he was the first to propose the “gravitationally bound rubble pile” model for large minor planets. Another of his research interests is infrared searching for intramercurial bodies.
