Dictionary of Minor Planet Names

1963 SQ. Discovered 1963 Sept. 22 at the Goethe Link Observatory at Brooklyn, Indiana.

Named in memory of Sidney W. McCuskey (1907–1979), director of the Warner and Swasey Observatory during 1959–1970. His papers on the stellar luminosity function and its variations form a major contribution to the understanding of these problems of galactic structure. He served as president of IAU Commission 33 (Structure and Dynamics of the Galactic System). (M 6954)
