Megx.net, the integrated database resource for marine ecological genomics, is the first database to integrate bacterial and archaeal genes, genomes, and metagenomes from the marine environment with curated contextual metadata, as well as environmental data from heterogeneous resources.

Introduction

Over the last years, microbial ecology and environmental microbiology have undergone a paradigm shift, moving from a single experiment science to a high-throughput endeavor. Although the genomic revolution is rooted in medicine and biotechnology, it is currently the environmental sector, specifically the marine, which delivers the greatest quantity of data (Gilbert and Dupont 2011).
