Diarrhea and Other Water-Borne Diseases

Abstract

Global estimates of the incidence of diarrheal diseases suggest that there has been little if any progress in reducing the overall morbidity of these diseases. The authoritative handbook of diseases in developing countries (Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries, edited by Jamison et al., 2006) goes so far as to say that

the estimated median incidence of diarrheal disease in children under 5 in developing countries has not changed much since the early 1990s.
