Osteoclastic Variant of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma—Case Report of a Very Rare Entity

Abstract

We present the case of an 83-year-old female patient diagnosed with osteoclastic variant of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (OVATC), describing clinical presentation, radiological appearance, histopathological and molecular features, local/regional treatment, airway management, and ethical aspects guiding palliative care after curative options were no longer possible. OVATC is a rare tumor with only a few cases reported in the literature; as far as the authors know, this is the first case of OVATC reported with full documentation of clinical and surgical aspects, imaging studies, genetic studies, and cytological and histopathological images.
