  1. The authors made an error on the year. The survey, conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the USDA, was published in 2006 but reflects corn farming in 2005 (USDA 2006). It is also worth pointing out that there are more recent surveys of corn farmers for years 2010 and 2014 (USDA 2015).
