Abstract:

The g–factor of the 2+ 1 state in 180Pt has been measured by means of an implantation-decay technique in conjunction with the γ-ray detector array GASP, thereby extending the g(2+ 1) systematics for Pt isotopes across the upper part of the valence neutron shell, beginning below mid-shell. Despite the variation in the number of valence neutron holes from 6 to 22, the g-factors remain nearly constant and near 0.7Z/A.
