Abstract
This paper provides some insight of the communication mechanism for the protocol handling in a mobile station (MS) being used for the pan European digital mobile network. SDL (Specification Description Language) is used as a means of facilitating the specification as well as for the development of the protocol stack for a MS. Emphasis is put on the employed Real Time interprocess communication mechanism necessary to meet time constraints imposed by the application. An example is given to discuss the properties of the employed SDL based Real-Time System in more detail.
