Abstract

Blockchain-based applications in VANETs could improve traffic safety and efficiency by dynamic key management and distributed trust management. However, the limited performance of a single blockchain cannot meet the needs of large-scale applications in VANETs. In this paper, to enhance the scalability of blockchain-based applications in VANETs, we design a decentralized management system based on an atomic cross-chain swap. Furthermore, we introduce public-key encryption with keyword search in the system to protect user privacy and increase cross-chain efficiency. Analysis and simulations are conducted to evaluate the scheme in terms of security and performance, and the results show that the scheme can realize cross-chain swap while protecting vehicle privacy.
