Abstract
Thyroid nodules are common, approximately 2–22% of biopsied and resected thyroid nodules are malignant, and only a small percentage of them exhibit aggressive behavior. Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is a standard test to determine proper management. The high-quality FNA samples obtained by technically skilled operators should be representative of the lesion for further interpretation. This chapter will emphasize on thyroid FNA techniques and pre-/post-management in detail, as well as the issues related to specimen adequacy.
