Abstract
The module starts with examining the conceptual framework of socio-economic class, poverty, child poverty and child economic citizenship. It then reviews child rights to financial education and inclusion for developing financial capability. Such financial education mainly includes topics of banking and asset building, financial budgeting and consumer education. Banking includes the concept and importance of banks and types of bank accounts; the skills for savings; and asset building through children’s accounts. Budget is a part of planning, and budget helps to redefine one’s plan when necessary. Knowledge of budgeting is an advantage for children as it helps them to develop an economic way of thinking and problem-solving. Finally, children’s participation in consumerism has expanded markedly and so consumer education, including marketing through mass media and awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities, is essential for children.
